About Hollie
Let's see...I was born at an early age...began singing at the age of 5 but didn't take up piano till the rather advanced age of 14. At 16 I passed my GCSE Music with flying colours and went on to study music at college and university, obtaining some pretty bits of paper along the way which said BTEC National Diploma in Music, BA (Hons) in Popular Music, Grade 5 Piano, Grade 5 Theory, and Grade 8 Singing. I say "said" because I left most of them on a bus on my way to an interview one day.
After uni I started up a band called Hollie Sheard & Friends, became a librarian for a few years, then quit to focus more on my music and to work part-time in a theatre. I've released two albums of original songs so far, and I'm currently working on more songs as well as an instrumental album.
Bipolar Disorder
Some of my songs touch on my own experiences of living with bipolar disorder and its associated issues like depression and anxiety. On my first album these references were tucked away and hidden, but my second album speaks out openly with All Here. In the spirit of the Time to Change campaign, I'm speaking out to help Britain see that mental health does not have to be a taboo subject.
About Hollie Sheard & Friends
"Hollie Sheard & Friends" is a band that started in 2007 to showcase my songs both live and in the studio. Members included: Me (of course), Brian Morrell, Lee Mitchell, Daniel Green, and Jonathan Stott. We recorded two albums together, called Truth or Dare and By Hook Or By Crook. Daniel left the band in 2010 following the launch of the second album, and the remaining members have not worked together since then due to lack of access to rehearsal space.
